Staircase positioning creates another important constraint because sufficient headroom must be achieved as somebody enters the converted space.

Either option can transform the scale and cost of a project. Look for Problems That Already Exist

With those answers available early, architects and designers can work within genuine structural possibilities rather than attractive assumptions.
The least glamorous part of creating a new loft room may therefore be the part that saves the most money. Before choosing paint colours, furniture and precisely where the bed will go, find out what is holding the roof up. It is difficult to argue with gravity, and it has yet to lose a planning meeting.
